So far, there are Zierle, Zierlin, and Zierlen in Germany, in the US I have found the name phoneticized as Zierlie, Zierlee, Zierley, Zierly, Searlah, Searluh I HAVE NOT found a link to Zierlein, though that name (and its varient) has been found within 20 km from the Zierle name.

Hello Everyone, I'm John:

A really long time ago, my dad had a talk with me about the family. He told me the Zierles were Dutch, Irish, and German. That they were big landowners in Nebraska, and that there was no Family anywhere except Pennsylvania. Boy, was he wrong. No surprise since ancestry wasn't a topic of conversation. His family was American.  Not to mention that my Zierles (and by mine I mean my grandfather on down, were not the most talkative of folks.

About a dozen years ago I started this family history quest, did some research at FHLs, went to Germany a few times, sent some info requests out, spoke to german and american cousins. And here we are. This site, which will increase in size weekly, at the slowest, is hoped to be collaborative and I hope that cousins of any and all Civil/canon degrees, or there families, help tell the tale.

On this initial website re-issue, I have taken the uncharacteristic step of putting a picture of myself on the intro page, its my favorite and was taken in Gundelsheim, Germany about 17 miles north of Neckarwestheim. more...

I have plenty of source material available, and will post over time. I want to add that I have not posted anything to the mass genealogy sites because too many folks just cut and paste existing errors and assumpions. This way my errors and guesses are known!

I will be posting what I know so far of my mom's side soon, some of her family names are Ziegler, Dentz, Donz, Doentz,  Tentz, Tonz, Toentz, Clements, Clemento, Gesser, Resweber. Her ancestry was Swiss, French, Italian, and probably a bit of German. I probably will keep he files separate as we get started.

Some of the guidelines I am trying to use include not publishing any data or pictures about a living person, beyond what might be included as part of an ancestor's life.

I would also like to mention that I am trying to be accurate, but I know that something might be wrong. Please tell me.
